Identity Is a System, Not a Statement

Identity is not something we define to frame on a wall.

Whatever we do, whether professionally or personally, is defined. Identity exists externally as perception by those we deal with, the ones who know us and the ones who see us, but it also exists internally as self-awareness and intent.

We need to understand who we are, as people and as organisations. We do this by defining our identity from the macro to the micro aspects. Consequently, this establishes a framework within which we act, not as a limiting factor, but as an empowering reminder.

When we remember who we are, we better articulate ourselves in our messaging, in our tone, in the way we act. We avoid pitfalls but we also question why we are not taking certain actions; and identity definition is not a one-time endeavour, but rather a feedback loop of define, act, and review. Identity is a system not a statement.
